North East India

In North East India the conflict has been going on for 50 years. Although many attempts have been made to control the situation different ethnic identities and economic crises block real peacemaking. Some fear the situation may worsen unless peace and tranquility come speedily to the region.

The conflicts are both inter-tribal, within the Nagaland tribe themselves, and against the Indian government as the Nagaland tribe fight for independence.

The coordinator is Rev. Laldawngliana who is based in Shillong. He says “We have come from different denominations and different tribes. Our vision is blocked by a blanket of violence and conflict.”  YAP was formed in this region of India in 2003 and attempts to be an influence in a number of states around Shillong. They team work hard in the face of many years of tribal and ethnic conflict as well as conflict with the Indian government
